How to Care for Your Roses at Home?

Congratulations on bringing home a beautiful bouquet of roses!

Roses are not only stunning but also symbolize love and elegance.

To help you enjoy their beauty for as long as possible, we’ve put together a simple care guide for your new blooms.

Follow these tips to keep your roses fresh and vibrant after bringing them home.

1. Unpack Your Roses with Care

As soon as you get home, it’s important to give your roses a little TLC:

  • Remove the wrapping:
Gently take off any packaging to let the roses breathe.
    • Trim the stems:
Cut each stem at a 45-degree angle using clean scissors or a sharp knife. This allows the roses to absorb water more efficiently.
      • Remove any leaves below the waterline:
Leaves submerged in water can promote bacterial growth, which shortens the lifespan of your flowers.

          2. Choose the Perfect Vase

Selecting the right vase and preparing it properly can make a big difference:

          • Clean your vase:
Use a clean vase to prevent bacteria from contaminating the water.
            • Fill it with fresh water:
Use cool, clean water and top it up as needed to ensure your roses stay hydrated. Refresh the water every few days to maintain freshness.
              • Add flower food:
If your bouquet came with flower food, add it to the water to nourish your roses.

                  3. Place Your Roses in the Right Spot

Roses are sensitive to their surroundings, so be mindful of where you place them:

                  • Avoid direct sunlight:
Too much sunlight can cause your roses to wilt prematurely.
                    • Keep away from heat sources:
Avoid placing your roses near heaters, stoves, or warm appliances.
                      • Steer clear of ripening fruits:
Fruits release ethylene gas, which can speed up the aging process of your roses.

                          4. Refresh and Maintain

To keep your roses looking their best, a little regular maintenance goes a long way:

                          • Change the water occasionally:
While frequent changes aren’t necessary, replacing the water every few days can help maintain freshness.
                            • Re-trim the stems:
Cut a small piece off the stems every few days to improve water absorption.
                              • Mist the petals:
Lightly spray the petals with water to keep them hydrated and fresh.

                                  5. Reviving Drooping Roses

If your roses start to droop, don’t worry! You can often revive them with a few simple steps:

                                  • Re-cut the stems:
Trim them again at a 45-degree angle.
                                    • Soak them in warm water:
Place the roses in a sink or bowl filled with warm water for about 30 minutes.

Remove wilted petals: Gently peel off any drooping or discolored outer petals.
